EMERGE is a program aimed at post-doctoral fellows and early career faculty who are pursuing academic research careers. So much of what we need to know to be successful isn’t taught, and sometimes, it isn’t even openly discussed. This can lead to inequities - women, individuals from minoritized backgrounds, and first-generation students often have less access than others with more privilege. We want to break down those barriers and provide everyone with this critical information. Also, EMERGE participants will develop a network of peers during the program that can serve as a career-long community of support and growth.
The EMERGE 2-day course will cover the following topics delivered in a small group, interactive, virtual setting:
Career strategic planning
Mentoring up and down
Artificial intelligence in academics
Negotiation
HR
Budgets
Managing teams
Time management for the expert
Peer coaching
